Tom Crawley Memorial Tournament

The First Annual Tom Crawley Memorial Tournament to benefit Wheels of Success was held on October 21st at the Rocky Point Golf Course. The weather was perfect, and all 11 foursomes had fun for a good cause.

The event was followed by a memorial celebration and awards ceremony at the Fox Jazz Club. Bill Harper’s team won the trophy of the day, and many door prizes were awarded while everyone enjoyed liquid refreshments donated by Premier Beverage, our title sponsor. Special appreciation is owed to Joe Vitello, Jim Clark, and Bill Holt for organizing and running this event and to Ted Wheless and The Fox Jazz Club, without whose support the day would not have been possible. Also appreciated were volunteers: Zuhara Peters, Professional Women Empower; Jennifer Thomason, UBS PaineWebber; Gail Rine, Eloquence; and Jeni Meunier and Dana McCullers, It’s Just Lunch, who set up, checked in golfers, and drove the refreshment carts.

Everyone agreed that Tom Crawley would have loved seeing so many people enjoy themselves for a good cause. Wheels of Success netted more than $5,000 enabling us to assist three families—two through vehicle purchases and one through vehicle repairs. We hope to be doing this even bigger and better next year at the Second Annual Tom Crawley Memorial Tournament.
